About
Lyric soprano Lizzy Schroeder is a vibrant and versatile artist known for her expressive musicality, warm stage presence, and refined vocal artistry. Whether performing on the operatic stage, in concert settings, or in musical theatre, Lizzy brings a deep sense of storytelling and vocal elegance to every performance. She is frequently recognized for her “infectious joy” on stage and her ability to inspire fellow performers and audiences alike.
A native of Iowa, Lizzy began performing at an early age, singing in youth choirs and community theatre productions. Her passion for music and performance led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and Education from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, where she studied both voice and piano. While at Loras, she was deeply involved in the college’s choral and theatrical ensembles, laying a strong foundation for her future as a multifaceted performer and educator.
Lizzy went on to complete her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. During her graduate studies, she appeared as Maguelonne in Viardot’s Cendrillon and Mme. Silberklang in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, and was featured in solo performances of Handel’s Messiah and recitals of sacred and contemporary vocal repertoire.
Eager to expand her artistic horizons, Lizzy pursued postgraduate study in Vocal Performance at the University of York in the United Kingdom. During her time abroad, she served as a Soprano Choral Scholar at Leeds Cathedral, where she performed major liturgical works including Duruflé’s Requiem and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor. She also joined the Leeds Youth Opera in the role of Dot in Jonathan Dove’s The Enchanted Pig and covered the role of Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with Opera Viva, showcasing her strength in comedic timing and vocal agility.
Lizzy’s musical theatre credits highlight her vocal flexibility and natural dramatic instincts. She portrayed Johanna in Sweeney Todd at the Buxton Opera House in the UK, under the direction of West End director Paul Kerryson. After returning to the U.S., she joined the Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company in Minneapolis, performing in productions of H.M.S. Pinafore.
Her recent leading roles include Marian Paroo in The Music Man, Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music, and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, all of which allowed her to bring lyricism and emotional depth to beloved characters in the musical theatre canon.
In 2024, Lizzy was selected as a contracted soprano with the Minnesota Chorale, performing in two symphonic concert series and collaborating with major Twin Cities musical organizations. She continues to build a growing reputation as a compelling soloist in sacred and classical repertoire, as well as a sensitive ensemble musician.
Outside of performance, Lizzy is a dedicated educator, liturgical musician, and arts leader. She has taught general music and voice to students of all ages and currently serves as Director of Liturgy and Music at the Church of St. Patrick in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. In this role, she leads multiple choirs, coordinates music for parish liturgies, and fosters a welcoming environment for parishioners to share their musical gifts. She is also the founder of Singing with Lizzy, a private voice studio that offers individualized vocal instruction with a focus on healthy technique, musical growth, and personal confidence.
Through her artistry and leadership, Lizzy remains committed to making music that uplifts, connects, and transforms. Her career continues to reflect a deep love for collaboration, storytelling, and the enduring power of the human voice.
